The burgess naming ceremony took place at St Leonard’s Church during Scottish Week.

A six-year-old who fundraises to help a family friend who has cerebral palsy was named Primary Pupil of the Year at the Moray and Banffshire Heroes.

A desire to cut carbon emissions, improve health and keep children safe as they walk to school in Forres has seen award recognition for Judith Binney.

Having a big vision and set of values that encourage acts of kindness was central to Findochty Primary School’s award nomination.

A charity which supported over 500 local youngsters last year alone providing school uniforms and winter clothing has been recognised for its efforts.

COUNTY commissioner Louise Winder accepted the award on behalf of the group.

Ambulance technician and RNLI volunteer Elaine Mair was named Hero of Heroes at the Moray and Banffshire Heroes ceremony.
