Youngsters holiday bowling sessions on offer

GRANT Park Bowling Club are actively seeking to encourage children to try the sport, by offering free sessions twice a week during the school holidays.

Meawhile, pupils from Andersons Primary School proved they were potential future bowlers when they enjoyed special taster sessions.

The P6 pupils from the school went across the road to visit the Grant Park Bowling Club.

The club agreed to let the children learn a bit more bowling, after the children wrote letters to the club asking to try a new sport this year after learning about the Olympics.

Club bowlers: Ian Thorrowgood and Jim Hasman then came into the school to talk to the children about the sport, prior to their visiut.

“The children had great fun and are keen to take up a new hobby,” said class teacher,

The Bowling Club are keen to encourage the children and more local youngsters after they received a Big Lottery 2014 Grant to buy bowls to encourage local youngsters and adults to try bowling as a sport, as part of an initiative being runin tandem with the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

The club will be open to children and their parents free of charge during the school holidays on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6pm to 8pm.
