Forres martial arts club DKMA Tang Soo Do have world champions in their ranks after helping Scotland to success at the sixth Worldwide Tang Soo Do World Championships in Orlando, Florida

A Moray martial arts club has claimed major success on a global scale.

Nine Forres athletes from the DKMA Tang Soo Do club were selected to represent Scotland at the sixth Worldwide Tang Soo Do World Championships in Florida.

Henry Stephen, Danielle Paddon, Kelly Price, Emily Price, David Price, Samual Dunbar, Harrison Reid, Myles Wilson and Josh Gallacher all flew the flag for Moray on the international stage.

And five of them were crowned world champions after claiming gold medal successes.

DKMA master instructor Dominique Stephen was thrilled by the performances of her club's members in Orlando.

"This shows all the hard work and commitment in the months leading up to the event along with the standard DKMA loves to uphold," she said.

"They were selected to represent Scotland at the event based on previous performances, and did their country proud by winning a fantastic amount of medals."

She said Henry Stephen, Myles Wilson, Danielle Paddon, Josh Gallacher and David Price returned with world titles for their gold medal triumphs, while other participants were successful in securing silver and bronze medals.

"Danielle also came back as female blackbelt grand champion for sparring, meaning she was the best at the championship," Dominique added. "She completed this with ease."

Both Stephen and Paddon also represented Team GB in the male and female team sparring. The pair teach at the local DKMA martial arts club in Forres, Hopeman and Nairn.

Dom,inique added: "There were competitors from all over the world – including Germany, Netherlands, America, Malaysia and Chile – as the competition was held for the first time since 2018 due to Covid.

"The world championships in 2025 will be held in Scotland and the Scotland Tang Soo Do committee are very excited to host this prestigious event."
