One athlete who took part in the event in 2021 posted a YouTube video charting some of the territory she faced, and the joy the race brought to her - see video below.

Race director Kyle Greig said the third running of the event takes place on Saturday, November 11 with 300 runners from across the UK taking part.

The race will start in Grantown at 7.30am and head along the Dava Way trail before heading through Sanquhar Woods then through Cluny Hill and finishing in the Grant Park in Forres - the first runners arriving around 10.30.

"I was raised in Forres and have covered much of the course during my journey to becoming an international-level runner," Greig said.

"I am thrilled to give back to our runners and showcase the natural beauty of our area. The event was also established with the intention of highlighting the positive impact of running, especially for those who run for charity or in memory of loved ones.

"It's worth noting that nearly 50 per cent of our participants have never run an ultra marathon before, so the finish line promises to be an emotional moment for many, including myself.

"We wish to thank the 30-plus volunteers who are generously supporting this event, Windswept Brewing for supplying the finishers' beers and also for the Dava Way Association for their tireless efforts in maintaining the trails."

Last year's champions, John Anderson (Moray Road Runners) and Fanni Gyurko (Central Athletics Club) are looking to defend their titles.
