Nairn was washed out before the first innings was completed.

The game was played in Nairn due to the installation of a new pitch at Grant Park and the match day didn’t look promising but the two teams managed to get a start with Forres batting first.

It was an uncharacteristically quiet start from Forres who opened with Al Farr and Pal Dhami. The former went to a short delivery from Neill who managed to get the ball to rear up, catching Farr’s wrist then the bat handle, before it was caught by S Annis at first slip.

Gus Farr joined Dhami but these two looked becalmed as Nairn bowled an excellent line and length. By the tenth over only nineteen runs were on the board and the score only crept along in the following overs.

Finally, with the change of bowling, the Forres batsmen looked as if they had found their touch with Dhami taking two fours and a couple of runs from Annis but Nairn struck back next over when Huxtable had Dhami caught at point for 29.

A dangerous period of play for Forres as Durance came and went for 7 then Neil McGrath was lured out of his crease and stumped for only 2.

John Duff returned to his old stamping ground and looked comfortable before he was yorked by Annis for 8.

Fraser Merricks made his first appearance of the season and this did the trick to steady things as he helped Gus Farr move Forres along from the century mark and past 150.

By now Farr had worked his way through his earlier difficulties and was scoring freely but as the weather threatened to break so too did Merricks defence as he too was yorked, this time by Green.

Ian Roberts was next in and he played a solid game but the threatening rain finally had its way and the teams had to leave the field just two overs short of the allotted 45.

Although tea was taken there was so much water on the square that play had to be abandoned with no result being achieved, and although Gus Farr had achieved 78 not out, none of the scores count towards the end of season statistics.

This Saturday Forres travel to Fochabers for their next league action.
