Jags' first-ever experience of VAR saw a string of Celtic efforts chalked off, while a home penalty claim inside the first two minutes drew some comment from Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

Buckie defender Darryl McHardy's challenge on Celtic attacker Liel Abada may have been awarded as a penalty if Abada had not already strayed offside.

Rodgers was asked about VAR ruling out several goals for his team but spoke about the early spot kick appeal and the time it took to reach the correct decision.

A major talking point in Celtic's recent derby victory in the Premiership was a Rangers penalty appeal for handball, where VAR discovered an offside in the build-up to the incident.

"It's just unfortunate," Rodgers said in reference to Sunday's VAT decisions. "The first was the penalty one, it shouldn't be looked at - it's offside. But they had to for some reason.

"It's protocol, according to the fourth official. They have to look to see if it's a penalty before they look at offside."

"It's offside and the penalty does not even matter - as we know."
