FORRES Golf Club Annual Captain versus Vice-Captain opening match was held on Saturday.
The winter weather held off it’s return long enough for the capacity field to enjoy excellent sunny conditions, and Club Captain Albert Duffus drove off in style to officially launch the golfing season.
Some 80 members took part on virtually perfect day for Golf, considering the recent weather we have had in the north. The course was in excellent condition for the time of year. The match result was a Draw
Partnered by the club Professional Sandy Aird, he led his team against Vice-Captain Doug McAllister partnered by Club Champion Jeff Wright.
All games started simultaneously with a traditional “Shot Gun” start in a good -natured but fiercely competitive match. The course looked magnificent in the Spring sunshine and all competitors were treated to perfect golfing conditions which resulted in many matches finishing closely.
In the lead match the Captain, faced with a daunting tee shot in front of a large gallery, drove off in spectacular fashion followed by his playing partners.
The match continued to be very close but, in true sporting tradition, the result was a draw with ten games each.

All competitors were treated to traditional post match light refreshments supplied by Club caterer Robert Schiach.
The competitive season starts for real with the Monthly Medal on Saturday 6th April followed by the Woodroffe Cup on April 13.
