The Moray Figure Skating Club sent a contingent to the recent Magnum National Open in Stevenston, Ayrshire.

Lossiemouth youngster Abby Macleman won the National 4 event contested by a total of 12 skaters.

Another coast contender, Burghead's Layla Hill also claimed gold in the National 2 event while team-mate Emily Wright just missed out on a podium spot.

The pair also competed at the Young Stars competition in Sheffield, with Layla first and Emily fourth in a field of 21 from across the UK.

Also at the Magnum Open, Jaya Beaton took part in her first-ever national competition against 17 other skaters and claimed the bronze medal in the beginner girls' section.

At National 7 level, David Anderson just missed out on a bronze medal but successfully landed triple jumps in his routine, as did team-mate Zack Crowley. The pair are trying to qualify for the British Championships.

Chloe Sutherland, Mhairi Manson, Adelie Forsyth and Dakota Ocaña-Wilson put in good displays for the club.

The young skaters all train several days per week at Moray Leisure Centre and Inverness Ice Centre in order to access the training ice that is essential for their success.

They are coached by Sue Summers-Farrell and Graeme Summers. Sue said: "We're thrilled that Moray Figure Skating Club has won yet more national medals and is going from strength to strength.

"Our skaters are a shining example of hard-working, dedicated youngsters who live for their sport and we're very proud of them."
