Barron (18), a revelation in a Forres shirt since signing from Caley Thistle last year, is understood to have been interesting several clubs including Mechanics' SPFL neighbours Elgin City.

However, the teenager has penned a new deal at Mechanics keeping him at the Highland League club until 2025.

Speculation suggests that at least one club had lodged a substantial bid to sign Barron.

Mechanics' league neighbours Nairn County are believed to have shown an interest in the player while Elgin City manager Ross Draper admitted he was impressed by the player following a recent friendly match between the sides.

Barron scored 16 goals last season for Mechanics despite missing a chunk of the campaign through injury.

The Mosset Park club have also signed defender Thomas Brady (21) on a new deal to keep him at the club for the next two years.
