The Speysiders benefitted from an own goal in the opening 15 minutes, then surged into a 3-0 half time lead thanks to a headed effort by Charlie MacDonald - his first for the club - and a Michael Finnis effort.

Michael McKenzie got one back for Thistle before Jake Thomson sealed victory in the closing minutes, rendering Jack McKay's late strike for Strathspey to be nothing more than a consolation.

Forres Mechanics ended a run of three consecutive league defeats but were held to a 1-1 draw by a Clach side still looking for their first league win of the campaign.

The Inverness side led at the break through Lewis Mackenzie's 18th minute strike, with Forres captain Lee Fraser heading his team level midway through the second half.
