Rival makes Mark as leader is forced to quit

DEFENDING champion Thomas Dingwall led the field by seven strokes at the halfway point in the Forres Golf Club Championship.
Unfortunately, due to work commitments, he was unable to complete the final two rounds, leaving his rivals to fight for the 2011 title.
Torrential rain made conditions extremely difficult during round three, with some holes having to be recut because of lying water. Nevertheless, with rounds of 70 and 71 respectively, Mark Jones and Jeff Wright made their intentions clear and Jeff had a three-shot lead going into the last round.
It could not have been closer with both players reaching the turn in 37. In the back nine, however, Mark threw down the challenge to Jeff with birdies at holes 12, 13 and 16 for a 33 back nine, whilet Jeff dropped strokes at holes 13, 16 and 18 to be home in 38 and saw his three-shot lead change to a two-shot deficit, making Mark the club champion for 2011.
