The move by the Scottish Junior Football Association comes after the team said they would be unable to play their three times postponed third round match at Kilbirnie Ladeside over the festive period due to personnel being on leave.

The tie, originally scheduled for the end of November, had fallen victim to the weather on three occasions.

The SJFA then informed the clubs it wanted the tie played on December 24 or 31.

Neil Sinclair, club spokesman, said: “When we beat Dufftown in the second round that was the first time we had won a game in the competition.

“We had spoken to Kilbirnie and they were willing to play the game on January 7, but we were informed by e-mail that we were out of the competition. It’s a shame we won’t get a day out down south now.”
