PICTURES: Over 100 runners tackle hot conditions to complete Forres 10k race with Aberdeen AAC’s Kris Urquhart crowned new champion
Fast times were posted at Saturday’s Forres Harriers 10k race in the blistering heat.
Over 100 runners finished the event, which was won by Aberdeen AAC’s Kris Urquhart in a time of 32 minutes, 13 seconds.
East Sutherland AC’s Shaun Cumming was less than a minute behind in second while first Moray entry to the finish was Moray Road Runners’ James Wilson in 32.27.
Former Forres Harrier Gordon Lennox was fifth for East Sutherland AC in 35.13.
The female winner was Inverness Harrier Caitlin Heggie in 37.03, finishing eighth overall.
Falkirk runner Fiona Matheson was second female and winner of the F60 section, and former Forres athlete Kirstie Rogan was third for Highland Hill Runners in 41.14.
Moray Road Runners’ Stephen Carmichael was winner of the 50+ male section in 38.41 for 11th overall.
Club mate Scott Phimister was just behind in 12th, closely followed by youngster Michael Bishenden in 14th.
First to the line for home club Forres Harriers was Bill Symon in 39.42, just ahead of club colleague James Ward in 17th (40.20).
MRR’s Graham Stephen was second F50 runner in 18th (40.40) and club colleague Kenneth MacRae was third F50 in 42.12.
