THE Forres Mechanics team that started in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Strathspey Thistle contained five full debutants.
The entire line-up was also born in the 21st century – highlighting the youthful nature of the Cans squad this campaign.
Manager Steven MacDonald was happy with his new signings, with Calum Frame and Dylan Lawrence both scoring on their first competitive starts in black and gold.
He said: "We made it difficult from the start and Jack (Walker) did better in the second half than the first half.
"It's his first game in the Highland League and it's a learning process. He showed in the second half that he is well good enough to play at this level.
"Calum (Frame) was good again and looks a find. He got us the winner and I think he's going to do really well. You can see what he's going to bring to us.
"Dylan (Lawrence) caused them lots of problems with his pace in the second half and stretched them. Overall, there were lots of positives."
In addition, Samba Badjana – originally from Guinea-Bissau – and Mark McLauchlan, signed from Buckie Thistle, made their competitive Forres debuts.
Ethan Cairns, who had a spell on loan from Inverness Caley Thistle last season, was also signed just the day before the season's kick-off.
MacDonald gave special praise to the club's secretary for getting all the new players registered for the opening day.
"A great thanks to our secretary Tony Broadhurst who has just started the role," he added.
"He managed to get four players registered at the last minute – and that included international clearance.
"A lot of that hard work in the background is missed and I know I'm probably pretty difficult to deal with but he's been fantastic, so the three points were a reward for his hard work."
