PICTURES: Moray and Huntly rugby youngsters surge through Saltire Energy Caledonia Youth Cup league phase with three victories to reach play-off stages

Moray and Huntly rugby stars of the future are putting in a strong performance on the national field.

The combined Muntly under-16 team entered a team into this year's Saltire Energy Caledonia Youth Cup.

And three impressive victories saw the north side top their section to qualify for the play-off stages.

A place in the play-offs was was secured last Sunday when Muntly defeated Highland under-16s in a great match in Elgin, coming out on top by a 27-15 margin.

The Moray and Huntly team had already defeated both Lochaber and Caithness by a 50-0 scoreline, meaning they won maximum points from their three group fixtures.

Muntly are now awaiting the draw for the play-off stages which puts them in alongside teams from Aberdeenshire, Tayside and Perthshire.

The other section winners in the Caledonia Youth Cup were Perthshire, Howe of Fife/Bell Baxter High School, Mackie, Stirling County Development and Ellon.
