PICTURES: Hundreds take part in Masters Cross Country Championship in Forres' Grant Park

RUNNERS from across Scotland gathered in Forres on Sunday (February 11) to take part in the Masters Cross Country Championship.

Two races got under starters' orders at Grant Park – a Masters Men 40-64, which 106 competitors, and a Master's Woman and Men 65+, with 94.

First home in the Women and 65+ Men race was Sara Green (Gala Harriers) who was more than a minute ahead of her nearest competitor in 24 minutes 12 seconds.

The first Forres Harrier home was Siobhan Evans, who came second in the Women's 50 category in a time of 28 minutes 13 seconds.

There were nine other runners from Moray – a mixture of Forres Harriers, Moray Road Runners and Elgin Athletics Club members.

Jackie Nicol, of Forres Harriers, was third in the Women's 60 category in a time of 31 minutes 26 seconds.

The 40-64 Masters Men category was won by Grant Baillie from East Kilbride in a time of 29 minutes 4 seconds. He was 11 seconds ahead of runner-up Ben Livesley of Moray Road Runners.

A further 12 runners from Moray Road Runners and Forres Harriers took part in the second run.
