The sporting stints for over-50s are designed to improve, maintain and promote the physical, mental and social wellbeing of older adults.

Walking football has proved to be popular in Moray for several years and efforts are being made to attract new participants.

Netball sessions are a more recent addition to the council's community sports programme, and recently resumed at Elgin Sports and Community Centre.

"The recommended age is for over 50s, however we have some flexibility on this, with people under that age attending as appropriate," said Roy McPherson, Moray Council's Principal Active Schools and Community Sport Officer.

The walking football movement aims to engage and work with all local football groups and clubs, partners, participants, local authorities, health services and any other organisations interested in the development of the sport.
