The event is being staged at Brodie Castle and will also serve to mark the launch of the official event site for Moray 2013, the international 6 day orienteering festival which is being held in the area in August next year.

Brodie Castle is to be the Event Centre for the festival providing a wonderful campsite along with other events throughout the week.

Next weeks event will showcase the castle grounds. The area has been newly mapped by local man, Jon Hollingdale, and courses have been planned by Scottish Junior, Kathryn Barr, and will provide something for novices as well as established orienteers.

The event starts at 10.30am and the tea room will be open to provide coffee and tea afterwards. There will also be tours of the castle led by some of the club juniors who have been in training over the holidays to act as Tour Guides.

This weekend saw a busy schedule for some of Moravian’s orienteers with two events being held in the southern Highland. Saturday was the final of the Scottish Orienteering Urban League in Dunblane. The fast and furious courses provided a difficult challenge with the best result going to Roo Hornby who finished in a creditable 22 place.

Sunday was the sixth of the Scottish League events and was held in the lovely location of Aberfoyle. The conditions were very challenging underfoot with recent forestry work resulting in rivers of mud to navigate! The star performance of the day was from Andrew Barr who beat the whole field including all of his fellow Scottish Junior Orienteers and a host of long-established adults.

The surprise result was from mum, Liz, who also managed to win the W45 Short course. The final league event also combines with the Junior Inter-Area Competition next weekend in the Edinburgh area.
