NAIRN County ran out convincing winners in the Reserve Cup at Grant Park, Forres. They posted a score of 192, which proved well out of the reach of the home side.

On a blustery, showery afternoon, the visitors won the toss and elected to bat.

Openers P. Gerring and R. Hepburn-Wright settled in, and with bowling conditions difficult with a strong cross wind, gradually increased the run rate until Gerring retired on 36. Cup rules are that a batsman goes having passed 35.

I. Crowson and R. Lockhart were bowled by Scott Davidson in his last over for two and a duck respectively.

B. Stewart was caught by keeper Matthew Cole for two and J. Hepburn-Wright joined his son, who retired on 37 soon afterwards. S. Crozier batted steadily until his partner was caught by Cole off the bowling of Rose. I. McLeod was lbw to Gavin Ross for two.

New batsman A. Ferguson set about the Forres attack in a flurry of fours and sixes to reach 36 in quick time and retired. Crozier, with a good 23 not out, and C. Morris, one not out, finished off the innings with the Nairn score on 192.

The pick of the Forres bowlers were Ryan Rose with two for 13 off 5 overs and Scott Davidson with 2 for 22 off 5 overs.

Forres lost a wicket in the first over when Ryan Rose was bowled by A. Green. Isaac Boyce joined Jon Benn but was caught by Stewart off the bowling of McLeod for a duck. Gavin Ross joined Benn and the pair scored steadily and gradually increased the run rate until Ross was bowled by Crowson for 13. Sam Stephen got a top edge and was caught by Morris off Crozier for a duck.

Ian Allenach produced another steady innings and when Jon Benn was caught on the boundary by A. Green for 34 and Alan Hunter was run out by a smart piece of fielding by Gerring, Forres were in trouble.

C. Morris took three wickets in two overs, Steve Hogley was lbw for two, M. Cole caught Stewart for a duck and Callum Hodge was bowled also for a duck. Scott Davidson on three not out and Ian Allenach on 18 not out were there as the innings ended on 108.

On Saturday at 2pm Forres play host to Ross County in the league.
