In honour of a local snooker talent, the Adam Wood Moray Open drew an entry of 32 players from across the north-east.

The first round had its share of shocks given the short race quickfire format.

Team Championships stat leader Stephen Hepburn fell to Aberdeen A county player Derek Hudson early doors whilst Michael McCulloch (Inverness) took out his team captain Alex Cooper (Inverness) 2-0 in arguably the clash of the round.

Round two saw a repeat of last year’s final with Marc Davis (Aberdeen) defeating Kenny MacPherson (Aberdeen) 3-0 as he looked to make it three titles in a row. Former finalist Adam MacLeod (Moray A) continued his good form defeating Regan Campbell (Moray B) by the same scoreline.

The last eight saw Davis, Hudson, McCulloch, Macleod progress in their respective ties with James McKenzie (Moray A), Raymond Mackenzie (The New Club 1), Adam Ferguson (Moray B) and Graham Podlesny (Banff).

The semis ended up being one-sided affairs as Davis dispatched Macleod 3-1 whilst Hudson breezed past McCulloch 3-0.

Another all-Aberdeen final ensued on Saturday evening and it was Davis who, by compiling breaks of 86, 56 and 45, was able to hold off the significant challenge of Hudson to win 3-1 and become the three-time Adam Wood Moray Open champion.
