It was a busy weekend for Moravian Orienteers last week.

The orienteering outfit took part in the year’s first Saturday League event at Quarry Wood.

Social events came next with the staging of the club's awards night.

Following that, six members travelled to Deeside for the north area’s first regional event of 2023.

The Oikkonen family planned some great courses at Quarry Wood. On the long course Finlay McLuckie (Men 16) prevailed convincingly over Andrew Campbell (Men 50).

Campbell narrowly edged Finlay's father Peter into third place, and his sister Kate into fourth to deny a family podium.

The orange course was led by two adult newcomers in the guise of Ben Holmes (Men 40) and Charlotte Myers (W21) with Halszke le Riche (W14) the first junior home.

The junior yellow course was won by Julia Ross (W12) while the brother-and-sister pairing of Monty (M12) and Edith W10 Tunnard coming in next.

The club awards were well attended followed by a fabulous meal for which every group brought a part.

Finally a quiz compiled by Alan Halliday was fittingly won by a team including Andrew and Liz Campbell, the organisers for the whole day.

The six members taking part at Deeside on Sunday opened their league account at Potarch, near Kincardine O Neil.

With frozen ground and some icy paths as well as wet marshes, it was tough, hilly and technically interesting.

Rob Parkinson and Andrew Campbell, completing the second blue course only half a minute apart in sixth and seventh position, were Moravian’s top performers.
