Moravian Orienteers grab four medals at Scottish Sprint Championships

Seven Moravian Orienteers members competed in the Scottish sprint orienteering championships, held this year in a fairly run down part of Kirkintilloch.

The terrain provided little challenge as it lacked any tempting impassable routes and the route choices were generally relatively unimportant, although the very close times that resulted meant that losing a second here or there could prove very important.

The club came away with a great haul of four medals.

Andrew Campbell won the men's supervets event, just 11 seconds ahead of Colin Hall in silver. Morag McLuckie won a bronze in women's vets and Eddie Harwood also won bronze in men's ultravets.

A bonus fun urban event was offered over a larger area of the town and including a beautiful nature reserve.

Some people were doubtful that they wanted another run round the area, but may were really glad they did as the area offered some fascinating route choices, particularly in finding ways in and out of the nature reserve.

It also showed off a much more attractive part of the town with one long run along a terrace offering spectacular views of the Campsie Fells.

Andrew Campbell had another superb run with second place behind an odds-on favourite to be in the British team when Edinburgh hosts the World Sprint Orienteering Championships next year.
