Mental Mechanics play maiden match as they lose 5-2 to Kirkliston and South Queensferry FC

MENTAL Mechanics Football Club played their very first match on Saturday after months of work behind the scenes.
The club, based in Edinburgh but founded by two Forres locals after the death of their best friend Charlie Tull, faced the higher-ranked Kirkliston and South Queensferry FC in a friendly match – going down to a creditable 5-2 defeat.

Mental Mechanics were the away side, although no spectators were allowed due to coronavirus restrictions.
And they took an early lead through Lewis Temple before a flurry of goals saw them 4-1 behind at the break. An even second half saw Lewis Temple double his tally from the penalty spot as the game ended 5-2.
But the result was fairly insignificant, with team president Fin Anderson, from Forres, more than proud of the club's maiden match.
"I couldn't be more proud of the entire club," he said.
"From all the hard work the committee has put in to the players who are creating a brilliant atmosphere around the club.
"To finally see the team playing was a very special day for me.
"I know Charlie would be very proud.
"We didn't get the win but for the first game it was a good performance and more importantly the team's attitude and willingness to support one another was brilliant."
