Medal success for Moray Figure Skating Club at Skate Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy national competition and London event at Alexandra Palace

Moray Figure Skating Club have picked up more medals on the national ice.

Four members made the journey to the Skate Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy national competition.

Taking home gold was Chloe Sutherland (14) in the national 2 section. The Buckie skater was first out of 16 competitors from across the UK with a score of 21.63.

Team-mate Layla Hill (13) from Burghead was just behind, winning silver while Emily Wright (13) from Urquhart narrowly missed out on a medal with a score of 18.19.

All three girls were competing at national level 2 for the first time and all achieved personal best scores.

In the beginner boys event, two Moray skaters marked their national debut with a podium position.

John Stephen (11) from Nether Dallachy won silver while Cameron Wilkie (9) from Elgin took the bronze.

Strong performances were also given by Millie Anderson and Miley Buchan.

Miley (12) from Buckie has qualified for the forthcoming British Championship in Sheffield at the end of the month as one of the top 40 under 13s in the UK.

In April, Zack Crowley and David Anderson won silver and bronze medals respectively at the Skate London event at Alexandra Palace.

The youngsters all train with Moray Figure Skating Club and Academy in Elgin and Inverness with coaches Sue Summers-Farrell and Graeme Summers-Campbell.

Last year the club celebrated the milestone of accumulating over 100 medals in national events and have won a string of national golds since then.

Moray Figure Skating Club hold their 'Superskate' session at 5pm every Friday, open to all skaters who have passed Skate UK level 4 and above.
