The Forres man battled out a close final in the Scottish Masters National Championships in Edinburgh and came out on top.

It was the Forres Squash Club members first national title, winning in the over-40 age group with a 3-2 success in the final.

This victory means Mckenzie will represent Scotland in the home internationals to be held in Cardiff later in the year.

The Masters returned to the Scottish squash calendar after a Covid-enforced break, and was held at the Grange Sports Club in Edinburgh.

The annual tournament is open to all players over the age of 35 and is run in a knockout format over three days.

New champ Mckenzie started his squash career in Forres in his primary school days and progressed to representing the club in the Moray Firth leagues before heading to Aberdeen where he captained the university team.
