FORRES Thistle’s promotion push hit a slight bump in the road on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against the league’s bottom side Lossiemouth United.

With Premier League side Montrose Roselea set to move back to the East Region Juniors from next season, the top five from the Championship will gain promotion at the end of this campaign.

Thistle currently sit fourth – four points ahead of sixth-place Buchanhaven Hearts, who have a game in hand.

The Jags have two games left to play, against third-place Newmachar United and 12th-place Glentanar. If they win both, they’ll gain promotion.

That task would have been more straight-forward had Thistle beaten basement boys Lossie on Saturday – but they had to settle for a point.

It took 38 minutes for Forres to carve out the first chance when Charlie Beck’s lob went just wide.

David Bromley, who came on for the injured Danny Black after 10 minutes, opened the scoring for the visitors on 41 minutes, tucking home after being teed up by Brandon Hutcheson.

It was a Forres Mechanics loanee that scored the equaliser for Lossie eight minutes into the second period.

Calum Gemmell was caught in possession by Harvey Henderson, who raced through on goal and scored at the second try after initially being denied by Daniel Mcleod.

Goal scorer Bromley had two chances to put the Jags ahead heading into the last 10 minutes, but was denied by home goalkeeper Stephen Woodhouse before seeing an effort blocked by Brodie Mitchell.

Lossie’s Ben Cullen was denied by Mcleod late on as the game ended 1-1.
