Lossiemouth Bowling Club continue winning start to Morayshire Indoor Bowling Association season with victory over Hopeman

Two wins out of two have made it a perfect start to the season for Lossiemouth Bowling Club, writes Ronald Gordon.

In the latest round of matches in the Alexander Wallace (Toyota) league, first division pace-setters Lossie earned a hard-earned home victory against coastal rivals Hopeman.

Zander Main won a close encounter 9 shots to 8 for the visitors, and Tam Stewart gave the hosts a two-shot advantage winning his match 10-7.

Alister Robertson was a 12-11 winner to take Hopeman back to within one shot.

George Jack won the final three ends of his match with a single and two doubles to ensure maximum points for Lossie.

Moray Bowling Club got their season up and running at home to Fogwatt.

George Robb jnr won the first eight ends running out a 22 shots to 3 winner. Lee Denoon kept Fogwatt in the contest with an impressive 14-4 victory.

Steve McKidd and George Grant both impressed for the Elgin club in the second session winning 19-6 and 18-9 to ensure a maximum six points.

Lhanbryde continue to impress at home, this time against Alves. Gordon Gallagher gave the visitors a perfect start winning 12-6, before Lhanbryde's Andrew Furr got off to a great start in his match to lead 15-1 after seven ends, eventually winning 16 -6.

Robert Wildgoose ensured another maximum six points and top spot in the league with a solid performance in the second session.

Burghead were impressive in the first session at home to Fochabers, Brian Davidson winning eight of the first nine ends and well-supported by Abbey Main as they led by 19 shots after the first session.

Cameron Leggat secured victory and four points for the coastal club by winning the first match in the second session. Helen Morrison secured two points for the visitors winning 11-6 as the visitors won a tight second session.

In the second division, Forres Royal British Legion clocked up their second success of the season.

After a close first session against Lossie Bowling Club's A team, the Forres team had a three-shot advantage. Neil Mathers and Mike Brown both won in the second session as Forres opened a five-point gap at the top of the league.

Forres Victoria are up and running, winning a close encounter against Duffus where all four matches were separated by no more than four shots.

Having won the first session, the hosts held their nerve in the closing stages of the second session, winning by a single shot to give them maximum points.

Hopeman A entertained Birnie in what proved to be the week’s closest fixture.

There was stalemate after the first session, 20 shots apiece. Charles Stewart gave the village club a two-shot advantage but Hopeman took the final match 11-7 to win overall and claim five points, while Birnie went home with a consolation point.
