Ladies captain Carolyn Boyd and vice-captain, Dorothy Marshall were first to tee off to herald the start of the golfing season at Forres.

A group of thirty ladies braved the extremely cold temperatures to play in captain versus vice-captain match which was declared an “honorable draw” at the end.

This was a significant change from last year’s opening match when the weather was very warm for the time of year and the ladies were playing in shirt sleeves.

Mrs Marshall said that the soup and sandwiches which followed were very welcome and enjoyed to everyone.

A competition was due to be played last Tuesday but the course was unplayable because of the snow. Hopes are high that normal service can be resumed this week.
