The pair excelled when they competed in the Sansum 3 Series, which was held in Elgin Town Hall.

The competition – the biggest of its kind in this area – brought together 180 fighters from all over Scotland.

Sunny, who has only been competing for ten months, won the advanced category of the P7 section outright. He said that it was due to his hard work, training and remembering to smile, as he had been taught.

Meanwhile, Dylan, fighting in the nine-years-old to P7 group, took up the challenge with enthusiasm, discipline and respect, and won the gold medal. Instructor Murdo Mackenzie said this division showed the highest standard of discipline on the day.

The boys attend the Sansum Black Belt Academy and have the opportunity to represent Scotland at the World Martial Kombat Federation Games, which are taking place in Sicily later this year.

Mr Mackenzie said he was extremely proud of their efforts and commitment to the sport, as well as their enthusiasm.
