A Kieran Yeats opener on 23 minutes and a Connor Killoh penalty three minutes later put the Maroons in control at the break.

When Matty Tough added a third in the second half, the Maroons looked set for a comfortable win.

They didn’t make it easy for themselves in the closing stages, allowing Jack Mitchell and Cameron Angus to pull back two goals and make it a sweaty last few minutes for the hosts.

Colin Charlesworth’s first game in charge of Huntly proved to be an eventful one as his team came from 3-1 down to draw with Rothes.

The Speysiders got off to a flyer with Gary Kerr’s early opener and a Jake Thomson strike making it 2-0 on 11 minutes.

Lewis Crosbie pulled one back only for a Michael Finnis penalty to restore the two-goal gap,

Crucially, Huntly netted in first half stoppage time through Angus Grant, then equalised right after the restart through top scorer Andy Hunter.

Grant’s second of the match made it 4-3 on 65 minutes, putting the home side ahead for the first time.

But captain Finnis scored his second of the game on 73 minutes to complete the scoring in a thrilling contest.

Former Elgin City manager Gavin Price was handed his first defeat in charge of champions Brechin City.

The Glebe Park side lost for the second time in three league outings, going down 4-3 at Formartine United.

They led through a Ewan Loudon goal but conceded three times in a ten-minute spell before half time, Graeme Rodger (2) and Julian Wade on target.

Loudon reduced the deficit just after half time but Aberdeen loan midfielder Adam Emslie made it 4-2 on 62 minutes.

A goal by a Brechin trialist on 79 minutes couldn’t prevent a defeat.

Lossiemouth battled well with Fraserburgh at Grant Park but lost 1-0 to a Scott Barbour strike just after half time.

Inverurie Locos boss Dean Donaldson was defeated by his former club Turriff United at Harlaw Park.

United had top scorer Ewan Clark sent off on 13 minutes but took the lead through a fine Liam Strachan finish.

Locos were also reduced to ten men with Tam Reid dismissed on the stroke of half time.

Myles Gaffney netted a penalty rebound to equalise for Inverurie just after the hour mark.

But Turriff finished strongly, Callan Gray putting them back in front on 76 minutes before two Reece McKeown goals in the last four minutes sealed a 4-1 success.

Brora Rangers’ match against Nairn County and leaders Banks O’ Dee’s trip to Wick Academy were both called off.
