High kickers bring home the medals

THERE was another great medal haul for a local martial arts club who travelled to Rushden for the 2012 British Championships.

Six members of the Forres-based DKMA club competed at the tournament and all achieved a medal in their category.

Karl Dawson is also part of the the tag martial arts team and has also qualified to compete for combined services team in ITF showing his skills have translated both in civilian and rag tournaments.

What makes this result special is that Finlay Rae (had stopped training for more than a year and has recently come back to train with the Forres club, and managed to haul two British titles as well as a second and a third place after only a few months of being back training.

Instructor Dominique Sutherland who is sponsored by Dicksons of Inverness, said she was very proud of all the team members.

“Even though most of them had injuries which stopped them training fully in the weeks leading up to the tournament they all still managed to show their talent,” she said.

Finlay Rae - gold in fighting and forms, silver in bo staff and bronze in knife.

David greener - bronze in forms and bo staff and silver in fighting.

Karl Dawson - gold in fighting and bo staff and bronze in forms.

Paul Luxon - gold in forms and fighting and bronze in knife.

Charlotte Luxon - gold in forms and knife and silver in fighting.
