Highland League: Four clubs register 6-0 wins as Brechin City go top following Buckie Thistle's slip-up at Huntly

It was a Saturday of high-scoring wins for some of the Highland League front runners.

Four teams won by a 6-0 scoreline including undefeated Brechin City, who edged into top spot ahead of Buckie Thistle who were held at Huntly.

Previous leaders Jags trailed to an early Andy Hunter goal following a mix-up between keeper Bal Demus and defender Ryan Fyffe.

Scott Adams levelled for the visitors early in the second half but neither side could find a winner.

Brechin took full advantage as goals by Kieran Inglis, Marc Scott (2), Anthony McDonald, Grady McGrath and Botti Biabi earned a comfortable victory over bottom side Strathspey Thistle.

Deveronvale were on the receiving end of the same score at home to high-flying Brora Rangers, who were five-up inside 34 minutes.

Jordan MacRae netted a hat-trick by 25 minutes and Martin Maclean, Max Ewan and Gregor MacDonald all netted for the Cattachs at Banff.

Formartine dished out six of the best to Keith and had six men on the scoresheet. Mark Gallagher, Matthew McLean, Paul Campbell, Aidan Combe, Scott Lisle and Cole Anderson got the goals in Pitmedden.

Wick Academy were 6-0 down at the break at Banks O' Dee. Lachie Macleod, Magnus Watson (2), Jack henderson and Hamish Macleod (2) got the goals as Dee eased up in a scoreless second 45 minutes.

Nairn County's good form continued as first half efforts by Conor Gethins and Ciaran Young landed a 2-0 success over Lossiemouth.

New Inverurie Locos boss Andy Low saw his men beaten 4-0 at home to champions Fraserburgh.

Two for defender Bryan Hay and one each for Ryan Sargent and Scott Barbour did the damage for Broch.

Forres Mechanics led Turriff United through Callum Johnston's early goal but the visitors hit back with Callan Gray and Keir Smith scoring either side of the break to give United the three points.

There was a dream debut for Rothes' Liam Shewan, signed from Nairn County at the end of the week.

Shewan scored a spectacular 78th minute winner in a 3-2 win at home to Clachnacuddin.

Lewis Mackenzie scored first for Clach with Fraser Robertson levelling in first half stoppage time, then adding a second soon after the break before Connor Bunce equalised.
