FORRES Thistle became the first team to take points off league leaders Banks O' Dee with an impressive 1-0 win at Logie Park on Saturday.

The Jags picked up an impressive success over the previously-undefeated league toppers thanks to a goal from substitute Neil Owen in the last 20 minutes.

The first chance of a wind-afflicted affair fell the way of Ricky Wardrop whose 20-yard shot was gathered by Dee keeper Daniel Neish at the second attempt.

A second chance of the first half fell the way of Matty Fraser just five minutes before the break, but his effort from eight yards flew over the crossbar.

Jags continued to put pressure onto Dee and Neish was forced to save down low when Connor Aubrey fired in an effort from 22 yards.

Daniel Mcleod in the Forres net also had to be alert – denying Callum Mcgregor's effort from 12 yards on 65 minutes.

The winning goal arrived for the Jags on 73 minutes. Neil Owen took a touch 25 yards from goal, evaded two challenges and then slotted into the corner when one-on-one.

Mcleod in the Forres goal was forced into another good save at game's conclusion as he denied Dee's Robbie Campbell.

The three points move Forres up to third in the North Region Junior Championship.
