Forres Mechanics have further strengthened their pool for next season by signing goalkeeper Lee Herbert from Buckie Thistle on a three-year deal.

The move means Forres and Buckie have swapped keepers over the summer, with Mechanics goalie Stuart Knight joining Jags earlier this month.

It is the second keeper signed by Cans' manager Steven MacDonald after he brought in Aidan MacDonald from Burghead Thistle.

MacDonald also raided Buckie to bring in left-sided Mark McLauchlan and signed left-back Calum Howarth from Nairn County and attacking midfielder Shaun Cameron from Dufftown.

MacDonald spoke on the club's Facebook page about his latest signing Herbert, who he briefly worked with on loan at Mosset Park.

“We are pleased to sign Lee because despite only being 22 years old, he has four years experience behind him with a top Highland League club in Buckie, having previously been at Ross County so he has a good pedigree.

"Lee is familiar with the club having had a short spell with us on loan so we know what he can do.

"It was always going to be a blow losing someone of Stuart Knight's experience but we are pleased to act on that quickly and sign Lee Herbert and Aidan MacDonald.

"We now have two very good young goalkeepers with great potential to improve. Robert Donaldson - who is unfortunately injured longer term - will be coaching them and I hope that we will see the benefits of that."
