The 20-year-old returns to Mosset Park having come through the Mechanics youth ranks a few years back.

Cans manager Steven MacDonald believes he has signed a versatile young player with his best footballing years ahead of him.

"He's a local boy who was at Cans before," MacDonald said. "He played for Mechanics when he was 16, and ended up at Locos.

"He plays centre midfield usually but he can also play right back and centre half so he's got a bit of versatility about him.

"He's a young lad so it's a signing for the future and he has got good potential."

Thain has penned a three-and-a=half year contract with Forres.

The Inverness-based player had a spell at Caley Thistle in his teens and has also had stints playing in Australia, England and Wales.
