FORRES Mechanics manager Steven MacDonald was left deflated after seeing his side concede a stoppage time winner to Fraserburgh on Wednesday night.
The Can-Cans equalised with a Craig Mackenzie penalty eight minutes from time after Scott Barbour's 65th minute opener, but conceded to substitute Logan Watt in the 91st minute to go down 2-1.
There were claims from the home players that the winner was scored with a hand – but MacDonald said it should have been defended better in any case.
"The boys did so well and it's sickening again," he said. "It's disappointing as they didn't deserve that.
"The boys feel it was a stonewall handball, and their boys were saying that too, but we have to deal with it better ourselves, especially at that time in the game.
"But I thought they did so well again and I don't think they deserved it. You could arguably say we had the better chances at times, but you have got to take them."
Forres have played the top three teams in the table in the last week – drawing with Brechin City before going down to a 4-0 defeat at Banks O' Dee and losing to the Broch.
Next up is a derby clash with Nairn County at Mosset Park on Saturday.
"We have had a hell of a tough run of games," MacDonald added. "We are competing with these teams and that's encouraging, but it feels sore just now.
"It's such a competitive league. We can take encouragement from the performance but we have got nothing out of it after all that hard work.
"Saturday is a good chance to pick ourselves up if we can get a result, so that's the way we have got to look at it.
"There are lots of positives but I'm disappointed for the boys to put that amount of work in and not get anything from it."
