The footballing females faced up to Inverness Caledonian Thistle Blues FC, drawing a good crowd to the town's Logie Park.

Looking to build on a cup win over Brora Rangers, Forres dominated the early minutes of a match played in warm conditions on a firm pitch.

Waves of attack from the home side in the first 15 minutes were not rewarded and with Inverness looking dangerous on the counter-attack Forres were made to pay in the 17th minute.

A break upfield wasn’t dealt with by the Forres defence leaving the centre forward with only the goalkeeper to beat shooting Caledonian Thistle into a 1-0 lead.

Forres chased an equaliser with Jess Porter and Isla Franklin driving the home side forward from midfield. After a series of corners, it was Amy Sutherland who got the home opener, her curled delivery beating the goalkeeper at her near post to score direct from the corner kick.

With the teams tied at 1-1 at half time, the second half saw more of the same as Forres were on the offensive from the start and put their opponents on the back foot for long periods.

The home side forced a series of corners and continued to ask questions defensively of the Inverness Girls with Macey Gammie creating chances for Forres from the right wing.

With minutes to go Forres rattled the crossbar and as the ball bounced there was a huge shout for a goal from players and home fans alike, but in the absence of VAR the referee decided it hadn’t crossed the line and the game finished in a draw.

Another exciting game for supporters and added to the two previous wins, Forres are unbeaten in three as they head north to Invergordon on Saturday (May 20) to face Ross County FC in the league.

Forres Girls FC have weekly training sessions for players born between 2016-2008. If you are interested in coming along, email forresgirlfootballclub@gmail.com or send a message through Facebook.
