The quartet of Stephen Hepburn, Simon Bremner, James McKenzie and Sean Hepburn snatched glory from reigning champions The New Club 1 from Elgin at the death.

New Club needed a point from their home tie against the Legion team to secure a third consecutive title, while an away win would give the Forres club their first championship.

The match started in perfect fashion for the away team as they raced into a four-frame lead. The New Club 1 players could only watch on as large leads were overturned in three of the four opening frames. However, the champions responded and reeled off the next five to lead 5-4.

This meant the Elgin side needed only one frame from the final three to clinch the title. Each frame was a tense affair but the Legion held their nerve to win all three and seize the trophy.

Hepburn was also awarded the player of the season trophy.
