The Covid-19 pandemic saw Moray Leisure Centre's ice rink close since March last year but play is finally back under way for the curling fraternity.

The Forres club held their Opening Bonspiel at the Elgin venue last month.

Two teams from Forres played against rinks from Darnaway Curling Club and Fochabers Curling Club.

The winning team was a Forres team skipped by Charlie Watt Jnr with Graeme Govan, Carol Bennett and Julie Stewart.

Forres club president Les Morgan thanked Darnaway and Fochabers for taking part and added: "It was great to see close games with curlers enjoying being back on the ice in a near-normal environment.

"Like many other clubs in Moray, curling membership is down as a result of the long break and Covid nervousness, and more cooperation between clubs is likely in future."

New members are always welcome and Try Curling sessions are available for newcomers.
