FORRES Army Cadets who represented their battalion at an athletics meeting came away with a clutch of medals.
The Moray Company cadets from Forres Detachment, 1st Battalion The Highlanders, were competing at the Army Cadet Force Association Scottish Athletics Championships in Grangemouth.
Cadet Sergeant Finlay Rae (16), Cadet Lance Corporal Alistair Johnson (15) and Cdt Giacomo Innes (12) were part of a team of 22 that the battalion took down to Grangemouth.
The day went well and all of the cadets enjoyed competing in their particular event. They were accompanied by the battalion’s sports officer, Lieutenant Ryan Day from Forres. More than half of the cadets received medals, which included thirteen individual cadets who took a haul of 15 medals between them. Three cadets were all placed second in thier individual events – Sgt Rae in the 400 metres; LCpl Johnson in the high jump and Cdt Innes in the 1500m, who said he didn’t quite believe it.
"I was really happy when I got the silverware and never thought I would get it at all," he said. "It was a fab day!"
