SATURDAY was a pleasing day for anyone of a Forres Mechanics persuasion as the Can-Cans thumped Strathspey Thistle 8-1 at Mosset Park.
However, 17-year-old Forres Academy pupil Conor McKay in particular had a 15 minutes that he will never forget.
The youngster, who has been in the Can-Cans squad on several occasions this season, made his debut at Mosset Park on Saturday, coming on in the 77th minute with the score 7-1.
He got a few early touches of the ball and was able to celebrate a goal when Forres scored their eighth with three minutes to play.
Assistant manager Stephen Maclean was full of praise for McKay and fellow teenager Luca McCullie, who was again on the bench.
"It was great to see young Conor getting on," he said. "Allan Frisken is doing a fantastic job with the whole youth system and we have lots of good, young, talent coming through.
"Luca was on the bench again, too and he's coming on well thanks to the hard work of Allan and the youth coaches.
"It's great to see and vital to a club like Forres Mechanics."
