Morrison Motors (Turriff) Aberdeenshire Shield gets under way with Formartine United defeating Deveronvale - three more ties and Highland League action tonight

Formartine United are through to the quarter-finals of the Morrison Motors (Turriff) Aberdeenshire Shield.

United travelled to Deveronvale on Tuesday night and an 18th minute Paul Campbell goal was enough to earn them a 1-0 victory.

Three more ties are scheduled for tonight, with holders Fraserburgh gaining the accolade of a match at the famous Pittodrie Stadium against a young Aberdeen side.

Banks O' Dee visit former north junior foes Hermes and Inverurie Locos play host to Dyce.

With Elgin City pulling out of the competition due to a player shortage, their scheduled opponents Keith received a walkover win and join Buckie Thistle, Huntly and Turriff United - who all received byes - in the last eight.

There's also two matches in the Highland League tonight.

Rothes head deeper into Speyside to take on bottom club Strathspey Thistle, who have lost all seven league games so far.

And Forres Mechanics, who have picked up just one point from their last four league outings, are at home to struggling Clachnacuddin who have yet to win in the league this season.
