The club is hosting open trials at the Gleaner Arena next to Borough Briggs on Sunday in an effort to recruit players.

Elgin City announced late last year they were joining forces with Moray Girls to enter a ladies team into next season's Scottish Women's League

The club plans to promote female players (aged 10-16) currently involved in community camps at the club to play competitive matches with the Moray Girls team.

Any young players making an impression with the Moray team could then be asked to step up to adult football and play for the new ladies squad.

"The plan is for the team to start in the fifth tier of the Scottish Women’s League’s in August 2023," said a club spokesperson.

"This will provide an exciting opportunity for our ladies players to play competitive football across the country with the chance of promotion available through the pyramid system."

Sunday's trials take place between 2pm and 4pm, with players asked to meet at Borough Briggs at 1.45pm.

Anyone keen to take part should fill in this form prior to attending.

Elgin City are also interested in hearing from individuals willing to join the ladies team's committee or assist with coaching, by emailing accountsecfc@btconnect.com.
