FORRES Thistle picked up their second win of the North Region Junior Championship season with a 3-1 success at Cruden Bay on Saturday.

Goals from Ewan Turner, Neil Moir and Brandon Hutcheson secured the three points for the Jags.

The ball was rolling as early as the second minute for the visitors – as Matty Fraser squared for Turner to stroke home his first Forres Thistle goal from eight yards.

The score remained level until five minutes after the hour, when Moir’s corner was knocked into his own net by substitute goalkeeper Jamie Butler.

Two minutes later, Moir almost scored another corner – but it came back off the far post.

Thistle made it 3-0 with 15 to play. The ball appeared to have gone out of play, but Brandon Hutcheson retrieved it and rolled it into the net. There were no assistant referees and the goal stood.

Matthew Philip scored a consolation for Cruden Bay on 78 minutes, before a free-kick from Adam Carter from 25 yards went a foot past the post.
