FORRES Mechanics Youth Development is to continue despite the senior team pulling out of the 2020/21 season.

A Cans spokesman confirmed the youth team will still train, play friendlies and whatever fixtures are organised by the league.

He said: "Forres Mechanics FC and Forres Mechanics Youth Development recognise the particular physical and mental benefits of training and playing to the 80 plus young people in the youth squads.

"The situation with the first team and U20 squads is different and has led to a diffferent decision."

Mechanics are, so far, the only team to pull out of the Highland League, due to get under way on November 28. Players and management have been informed of the decision, with the club looking at furlough for all staff.
