There's a new leader at the top of Moray indoor bowls' Alexander Wallace (Toyota) Division 1 table.
Burghead head into the New Year out in front of the Morayshire Indoor Bowling Association top league, as they look to claim a first championship since 1986.
In the final fixture prior to the festive break Burghead hosted Alves where the home club enjoyed a 11-shot advantage at the end of the first session, Cameron Leggat winning 17-8.
Ryan Gordon tied his match 12-12 with Colin Taylor. David Ross started superbly and went onto win 16-7 as the Broch took a maximum six points.
Second played third when Hopeman hosted Moray. One win each in the first session with Arron Robb winning for the visitors and Philip McPherson winning 17-9 to give the hosts a six-shot advantage.
Home skips Jim Pirie and Zander Main both made a fast start and finished strongly as the coastal club maintain their title challenge.
Champions Lossie BC hosted Fochabers in what turned out to be the match of the week. Charlie Stewart skipping for the first time won 14-3 for the home club, Keith Lambert won 14-4 for the visitors to make it a one-shot match heading into the second session.
Despite a strong finish from the visitors in the second match, Mark Thompson's margin of victory was enough to give the champions a much-needed six points.
In the second division, leaders Lhanbryde played host to high-flying Birnie in what turned out to be a high-quality festive match-up.
Both first session matches were extremely competitive, Neil Roger and Andrew Furr winning 14-8 and 14-13 for the hosts.
Mark Wright won 15-12 for the leaders, and Charles Stewart played brilliantly for the village club winning 21-4 to overturn the deficit and inflict a first defeat of the season for the leaders.
Fogwatt and Lossie BC A enjoyed a festive cracker with Gordon Wiles ensuring a nine-shot advantage for the home club.
Both second session matches were equally well contested with only one shot separating the teams, Lee Denoon winning by five shots to give the home club full points.
Forres Victoria won the first match at Duffus 17-9, and Davy Clarihew got the home team back on track with a convincing win. The home club continued their recent home form in the second session winning both matches to consolidate their place in the league table.
