Jags came back from a half time deficit to clinch a 3-1 victory at Bellslea Park.

The two-goal win brought Buckie level on points with Broch and was enough to overcome the goal difference gap between the teams and place the Banffshire side in top position.

Fraserburgh had held top spot since August 14 when they were level with Jags on maximum points after four matches but Jags held the superior goal difference.

Buckie dominated the all-important match in Buchan but were stunned when the home side were awarded a penalty four minutes before the break, and Paul Campbell converted to give Fraserburgh a half time advantage.

Broch had nicked a 2-2 draw at Buckie earlier this season after being awarded two spot kicks, one of them deep into second half injury time.

Jags were not about to let things slip for a second time and regrouped to find a way back into the contest.

Shortly after the hour, top scorer Sam Urquhart fired home his 21st goal of the season to square the match.

With ten minutes left the home team had captain Willie West sent off for a second yellow, and Jags went for the kill.

They came up with a crucial second goal on 85 minutes through Sam Pugh's fifth strike of the campaign.

And instead of resting on their laurels, the visitors set about killing the game off and produced a third goal three minutes later.

Andy MacAskill knocked in his 15th of the campaign after a Pugh effort came back off the woodwork.

Buckie's win also offers a chink of light to fellow contenders Brechin City and Brora Rangers, while Jags host Brechin on Saturday.

Champions Brora did their chances no harm with a 3-0 win at home to bottom side Fort William.

The Lochaber side again proved how much they have improved with a string of new recruits on board, but conceded a first minute goal to Jordan MacRae.

Second half efforts by Ali Sutherland and Gregor MacDonald took the Cattachs to full points and back in the title race.

Relegation-threatened Fort remain seven points adrift from second-bottom Turriff United, who again went down fighting at The Haughs.

Turriff led Inverurie Locos through Callan Gray's strike as they looked to end a run of ten straight defeats.

But a Dylan Stuart own goal made it 1-1 at the break and United's luck again ran out when Locos sub Ross Still grabbed a winner ten minutes from time.

Turriff's misery was completed when Aaron Norris was shown a straight red card in the closing minutes.
