BRYAN Fotheringham clinched the Brodie Trophy in the 36-hole Gents’ Open at Forres on Saturday.

In scorching sunshine at Muiryshade, he and Jim Simpson, both on 66, trailed after round one by a single stroke from Elgin’s Jordan Milne. Fotheringham’s blistering second round 64 – to Milne’s 68 and Simpson’s 73 – was good enough for him to take the title for the eighth time.

The handicap prize went to Jim Simpson, nett 135, with Andrew Thomson runner-up on 137 and Kevin Schenk third, also with 137.
