Bryan bursts through to take the title

BRYAN Fotheringham clinched the Brodie Trophy in the 36-hole Gents’ Open at Forres on Saturday.

The 36-hole Brodie Trophy scratch competition was won by former Scottish internationalist Bryan Fotheringham, who received his trophy from club captain Allan Martin, as handicap winner Jim Simpson (left) looks on.

In scorching sunshine at Muiryshade, he and Jim Simpson, both on 66, trailed after round one by a single stroke from Elgin’s Jordan Milne. Fotheringham’s blistering second round 64 – to Milne’s 68 and Simpson’s 73 – was good enough for him to take the title for the eighth time.

The handicap prize went to Jim Simpson, nett 135, with Andrew Thomson runner-up on 137 and Kevin Schenk third, also with 137.
