Jags were given a stern test by hosts Forres in the Moray derby but an early goal and a late counter did the business for Graeme Stewart's men.

They now play Brora, who won on penalties at Fraserburgh after a 1-1 draw.

Sam Urquhart's 24th goal of the season gave Buckie the lead after just five minutes, though Mechanics defender Graham Fraser hit the bar in the first half.

The tie remained in the balance until the final minute when Jack Murray netted to clinch victory for the visitors.

Jordan MacRae put Brora ahead at Fraserburgh midway through the second half and Ryan Sargent levelled to force the shootout.

Sean Butcher and Willie West missed from the spot while Brora scored all four of their kicks to win 4-2.

Deveronvale produced the Highland League result of the day, coming back from 2-0 down against Inverurie Locos to win their first match in 11 outings.

Youngster Max Stewart was Vale's hat-trick hero after Kieran Shanks (pen) and Neil Gauld looked to have won it for Locos with second half goals.

Stewart got one back on 65 minutes and levelled with two minutes to go, before netting a winner right at the death.

Julian Wade became the third Brechin City player in the last four games to score a hat-trick as City won 5-0 at home to Nairn County.

Marc Scott also scored twice as City moved into third spot, just a point behind leaders Fraserburgh.

Two goals in a minute midway through the second half by Alan Pollock and Ross Gunn earned Rothes a 2-0 win at Clach to move up to sixth.

At the bottom, Fort William picked up only their third point of the season with a 1-1 draw against Formartine United.

Scott Lisle's first half goal for United was cancelled out by Adam Morris' leveller on the hour.

However Fort lost ground on second bottom Strathspey Thistle, who crucially picked up their first victory since October 6 with a 2-1 success over Turriff United.

An early Craig MacKenzie goal and a second by Elgin City loan striker Dylan Lawrence gave the Grantown men a 2-0 half time lead and although Owen Kinsella pulled one back, Jags held on to move to within a point of Turriff in the table.

Keith's match with Lossiemouth was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
