Four Forres Bluefins recorded personal bests at the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association North District Age Group Championships at Aberdeen Sports Village.

Dylan McNally, Craig Stevens, Jessica Powell and Harriet Wheeler saw their many hours of training in their Forres pool rewarded with excellent times at the championships, which saw swimmers competing for titles from as far afield as the Shetland Islands.

The youngsters were not fazed by the larger 50m pool and attacked their races with “gusto, determination and a will to succeed”, said a club spokesperson.

Both Stevens and Powell qualified for finals, with Powell missing out on a medal place in the 100m breaststroke by the narrowest of margins.

Her tenacity soon paid off, with success in the 1500m freestyle event, the longest of all the swims at the competition where she completed the race in a time of 21:30.99, taking gold and the age group title.
